The local rule
Kamloops’ current property guidance says its Tree Protection Bylaw can require a permit for tree removal on residentially zoned properties and in other situations covered by the bylaw.
The City also lists exemptions for specified small, invasive, dead or hazardous trees, but owners should confirm the current evidence and size conditions before relying on an exemption.
Before work starts
- Ownership: check the property line. Public and boundary trees may follow a different process.
- Site context: review any development approval, covenant or protected-area conditions.
- Work requirements: confirm any permit, exemption or protection requirements that apply to the planned work.
