Tree bylaws are easy to oversimplify. Our rule is to publish the municipality's actual scope — including when it protects only public trees, woodlots, development sites or certain trunk sizes.

Source hierarchy

  1. Official municipal tree, forestry, bylaw and permit pages.
  2. Official municipal bylaws, permit forms and application guides.
  3. Provincial or delegated sources where a separate law affects the issue.
  4. Secondary sources may help discovery but do not control a local tree-rule claim.

What earns an indexed city guide

We need a tree-specific official source and enough local detail to state what the municipality actually regulates without guessing. Until then the city can remain in the user directory but its page stays noindex,follow and out of the sitemap.

Why this matters

One city can regulate private trees above a diameter threshold while the next city regulates only woodlots or public trees. Repeating one generic paragraph across both would be inaccurate and poor SEO.
