Lethbridge tree rules
Private-tree visibility and clearance duties; no blanket removal permit established by the cited Traffic Bylaw.
The local rule
Lethbridge Traffic Bylaw 5834 requires owners or occupants to keep hedges, shrubs and trees within the corner visibility triangle at no more than 1 metre in height.
The same bylaw requires branches and foliage from private-property trees to be trimmed to maintain at least 1.6 metres of clearance, subject to the corner rule.
These are private-tree maintenance and traffic-safety duties. The cited Traffic Bylaw does not itself establish a general City permit for every private-tree removal.

- Ownership: check the property line. Public and boundary trees may follow a different process.
- Site context: review any development approval, covenant or protected-area conditions.
- Work requirements: confirm any permit, exemption or protection requirements that apply to the planned work.
